Swans, cleaning and flipping mattresses

Passed! With an A for the course: advanced supervision of hotel rooms. You are probably wondering…what kind of course is this? Well, quite an interesting one!

We learned all the ins and outs of the housekeeping department. From making a work division for the chambermaids, the use of biodegradable cleaning products, to the ultimate ‘turning of the mattresses’. Apparently, there is a whole science behind this. You have to make sure that all mattresses are turned in the same direction at the same time, so they will keep their shape. If the mattress happens to smell, we learned that you might want to take a look under the bed. You never know what you are going to find there…

Also, if you are a tourist and you feel like using the ‘don’t disturb’ sign, please don’t use it too long. Before you know it there is a chambermaid in your room to check if you are still breathing. Just so you know!

During the course we also met really enthusiastic boys and girls who were all very interested in the social focus of our hotel. They also expressed their wish to work for us, which is really nice to hear.

The day of the test was pretty memorable. Off we went. Well prepared we arrived at the location. And guess what…we spent the first hour
folding towels in the shape of swans! We passed with an A, so the swans did their work.

Stay tuned for a YouTube tutorial ; )
