Going green part II

A few weeks ago we told you about our green line. Now, we are in the process of selecting solar water heaters for our hotelito.
These water heaters use the solar energy from the sun to generate heat (not electricity) which can then be used to heat water for showering or the washing machine. Compared to other places around the world,  Oaxaca has many sun hours every day and this makes the investment in solar energy for ecological and economic reasons very efficient.

But how does this selection process work? There are many different suppliers of solar energy in Oaxaca. Of course, we are doing profound research before we buy them. The challenging part is that every supplier gives completely different advise. Whether it’s about the amount of liters needed to be heated, the size of the tanks, pressure, the amount of solar tubes, lifespan, or the price…it’s as diverse as the supply of cheese we have in The Netherlands. One supplier wasn’t really making an effort to sell his product, but for the sake of his good price he is still listed in our benchmark. Now we are looking for quality certificates, reviews and we ask around locally.

We still have some homework to do but we will keep you posted!
In a few weeks we will be back with our blog. Anyone in for a bite of cheese? ; )
